The region’s only professional symphony orchestra, conducted by Toshiyuki Shimada, introduces students to the beauty of symphonic music, the unique characteristics of sound and the diverse instruments of the orchestra. The program will include Benjamin Britten’s “The Young People’s Guide to the Orchestra,” Tchaikovsky’s stunning waltz from “Sleeping Beauty” and a concerto featuring a student soloist, Jonathan Fenwick — the winner of the Hertzog Competition. A perfect way to celebrate Music In Our Schools Month!
