This year’s Finger Lakes Chamber Music Festival season, June 17 to July 29, is a feast of music composed over the centuries. One concert celebrates generations of outstanding (too often less-known) works by female composers. Another program features German masters. And the Independence Weekend concert again honors America’s own great talents.
Ensembles from the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra take the lead under conductor, Richard Auldon Clark. New guest artists this year include the Abel Family String Quartet (mother, father, son and daughter). Completing the group took years!
The performance at the Clemens Center features the String Quartet in a program of German masters:
Mozart, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik; Haydn, Serenade; J.S. Bach, Suite of Dances; Johann Strauss, Thunder and Lightning Polka, Perpetuum Mobile, Tales from the Vienna Woods; and Beethoven, String Quartet op.95

This year’s Festival is made possible, in part, by a grant from NYSCA’s Decentralization Program, administered locally by the Finger Lakes Community Arts Grants (FLCAG).
