This dynamic program highlights the universal language of dance, with the rhythms and emotions of flamenco, a dance style originating in Southern Spain. Bringing the essence of the different cultures that influenced flamenco: Gypsy, North African, Arabic and Judaic to life, each artist performs in friendly competition to show their unique style in how they move their arms, create rhythm with their feet, or display their feelings. Accompanied by guitarra (guitar) and cante (song), the dancers add to the music and rhythm with castanets, footwork and rhythmic hand claps.
Recommended for grades 3-8 (55 minutes)
